Lana Lawrence, who’s vice president of Anthony Lawrence-Belfair drape fabricators and that works with designers like Alexa Hampton and Katie Ridder, suggests holding cloths around a window, even in a cloth showroom. “Pleat it as an accordion at the top and let it drape,” she says. “If it begins to flare like a piece of crinoline, then it is not likely to fall nicely on the window”
Work with a major sample, at least two yards, since a smaller bit may not demonstrate the fabric’s true drape.
Also, remember sun will fade fabrics with time. If the room in question gets a good deal of light, it is smart to steer clear of bright colors, since they tend to fade quicker.
“However, if you like to change out your rooms many times, you may be less concerned with fading,” says Alice Guercio, vice president of product development at Kravet. Cunningham suggests going with neutral colours, since they are less likely to fade compared to other colours and more likely to combine into a room’s decor.
When it comes to material, lace, silk, artificial silk and velvet are the best choices to use for window treatments because they tend to hang the very best, says Guercio. “Faux silk will be the most lasting,” she says. And at a particularly bright area, faux silk does not deteriorate as quickly as real silk.

Some fabrics can keep the cold out. Many hotels use suede, velvet, tapestry or tweed because their weight helps block light and keep heat in. Still, any fabric could be interlined with bump, a thick, insulating felt material. And interlining — a bit of fabric slipped between the liner and the face fabric — may also help prolong the life span of their Tea Kettle Target.
Before you take out the tape measure, decide how high over the window you’d like the Tea Kettle Target to start. “Hanging panels greater than the window provides a sense of height to the space,” says Cunningham.
Measure from the top of the window (plus the added inches of elevation where the Tea Kettle Target will hang from) into the ground. To get a more traditional look, using the curtain marginally puddled on the floor, you’ll want to add the next two or three inches to your length. To get a contemporary, crisp look, have the panel fall flush with the ground.
When measuring the width of your window, be sure to add four to eight inches on both sides and double the total amount to ensure curtain fullness. “Then you won’t obstruct a lot of window glass when the Tea Kettle Target are available, and they won’t get in the way,” says Lawrence.

If you’re planning on using the Tea Kettle Target to shut out the sun, those extra inches around the outside of your window frame will also help block out any sun light light.
Custom made window treatments offer many advantages: You can customize the measurements to your window dimensions and create a tailored appearance, such as a perfectly-fitted suit. Custom panels arrive in endless design options, in the material to header style. With these choices, however, comes a substantial price difference from off-the-shelf panels.
If habit Tea Kettle Target just are not in your budget, Cunningham proposes spending a little more cash on high quality retail window treatments. She and her spouse, Anne Maxwell Foster, like Restoration Hardware’s Belgian Heavyweight Textured Linen Tea Kettle Target.
